Neurosurgery Formative Exam - Question Bank

The formative neurosurgery exam questions have been running annually for nearly a decade, and are taken by nearly all UK neurosurgical trainees.

These will now be available on demand, year-round. This will be free to everyone with an ebrain account: either an individual subscription or through a society that is a member of the Joint Neurosciences Council. It will no longer be possible to pay 20 euros for short-term access to the questions.

The new-style 'exam' consists of 50 questions in 1 hour, randomly selected from our question bank. Each question is pitched at the level of the intercollegiate FRCS examination in Neurosurgery.

  • You are asked to submit one question that can be used in subsequent years
  • This exercise is strictly for self-assessment, your scores will not be available to anyone except yourself
  • On submission you will get your score immediately and you can create a certificate of participation
  • CPD points can be claimed after completion
